Bere Mill Farm
The farming at Bere Mill is based on the principle that good meat and good food comes from traditional extensive farming methods.
Bere Mill has 100 Black Welsh mountain ewes and 70 head of Belted Galloway cattle. These native breeds have been carefully selected for their suitability for water meadow grazing and for the texture and quality of the well marbled but lean meat.Intervention is kept to an absolute minimum. All stock is reared and overwintered outside. Hard feed is used only for pregnant ewes and triplet(!) lambs. The rest of the stock graze on the unimproved pasture and hay made on the farm – a range of ‘old’ meadow grasses and associated wild flowers.Bere Mill beef, lamb and hogget is available to buy direct from the farm and is also supplied to select local restaurants.
